Leonardo’s annual International Graduate Conference is the culmination of the company’s Electronics business, two-year Graduate Scheme.

The conference brings together graduates from a variety of functions and from across our multiple UK and Italian sites, to work as transnational teams that will develop new ideas to help shape the future success of our business.

Working in international teams can bolster business output and foster a sense of collaboration and belonging. The theme for our 2019 conference was Digital Transformation. As an international and multicultural company, it is imperative to have a solid base for real-time communication across sites. Graduates were asked to research solutions to IT-related business challenges and to establish new ways of thinking. Topics presented covered:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Demystifying DFX
  • Intellectual Property Management
  • Living Collaborative Communities
  • Nano-satellite Ecosystems
  • Product Maturity Assessment Models

As part of their two-year programme, graduates are invited to come together to attend a series of workshops delivered by external coaches and focusing on teamwork, team-building, and developing personal skills. Through the use of real-life case studies from across business, team members are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and take on roles differing from their day-to-day responsibilities. All these activities are designed to be of invaluable benefit in our graduates’ future careers.

At the conference itself, graduates pitch their ideas to an audience of business sponsors and senior executives. The teams have the opportunity to build a diverse network which colleagues from across our international sites and to present their ideas, raising their profile with the company’s management team and some of our most prestigious customers.
