Finmeccanica is exhibiting at the Dubai International Airshow, which is taking place from the 8th to the 12th November 2015 in the UAE. At what has become one of the most important industry showcases in the world for aerospace and defence, Finmeccanica will present a number of new capabilities on its static area at the show (E6).

Mauro Moretti, CEO of Finmeccanica said: “Finmeccanica sees the UAE as a strategic partner to supply the best technological solutions for private customers and the Armed Forces. We are present in different areas within the aerospace, defence and security sectors, and we are developing high tech systems for the P1.HH, a drone with extremely good market prospects”.

For the first time in the region, AgustaWestland presents its two remotely piloted helicopters, the SW-4 Solo RUAS/OPH (Rotorcraft Unmanned Aerial System/Optionally Piloted Helicopter) and the SD-150 HERO, further testament to Finmeccanica’s strong commitment in the unmanned air sector with interesting market prospects in the region. The company will also display the most recent developments in its helicopters range, the AgustaWestland AW189 and AW159, which have become world renowned for their mission capability and safety at the top of their respective categories. The AW169 and AW189, together with the best-selling AW139, are part of the family of new generation AgustaWestland helicopters, which share the same design philosophy and approach to maintenance and training, ensuring efficiency advantages unprecedented in the management of mixed fleets.

In Aeronautics Finmeccanica will be present with the twin-engine MC-27J, a flexible, agile and cost effective solution for multi - mission Air Force and Special Forces requirements, developed by Alenia Aermacchi. A scale model of the M-346, the most advanced trainer aircraft on the market today, will be on exhibit at the Finmeccanica chalet. Designed to train pilots for high-performance next-generation military aircraft, this aircraft has already been selected by the Air Force of the Emirates for their advanced trainer requirement. Alenia Aermacchi has a historical presence in the country and recently provided the UAE aerobatic team, the Al Fursan with the MB-339, the same aircraft flown by the Italian National Aerobatic Team, the famous Frecce Tricolori.

The Eurofighter Typhoon will also be present at the Dubai Airshow. The Typhoon is the most advanced multi-role fighter aircraft available today, and Finmeccanica, through Alenia Aermacchi plays an important role in the design, development and production of the aircraft. Selex ES also contributes to the Eurofighter program developing over 60% of the on -board electronics. Among the systems it develops for the aircraft, is the innovative radar Captor-E, the new electronically scanned radar that will be installed on all future aircraft, the auto-protection system Praetorian and passive infrared Pirate system.

Also through Selex ES, Finmeccanica collaborates with Mubadala in the development of the P1.HH HammerHead. The P1.HH, born from the collaboration with Piaggio Aerospace, complements the innovative SkyISTAR mission system, ideal to carry out surveillance operations and patrolling. Selex ES also provides the command and control system, the data link and the ground control station, in addition to integrating all the avionics on board.
