Leonardo recognises supply chain performance with inaugural Supplier Awards

16 December 2021

Leonardo’s first annual Supplier Awards programme was launched at the end of 2021, to recognise performance and service excellence within the supply chain. Specific emphasis has been given to enhancing our partnerships and delivering added value through areas such as resilience, sustainability and also the wider engagement with our SMEs.

Supplier Excellence is intrinsically linked with parameters such as performance and quality, but also with aspects such sustainability and innovation and the introduction of new ways of working in the value chain.

Sustainability is an integral part of the strategies and values of Leonardo. The group recently confirmed, for the twelfth year in a row, compliance with the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) - stock market indicators including best-in-class companies in the area of sustainability on a global level - earning the highest score in the Aerospace & Defence sector. It was also confirmed for the second year in a row on CDP’s (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) “Climate A List 2021”, for its commitment against climate change.

Supplier Awards for Leonardo UK Indirect Procurement were announced as part of our Strategic Partnering Conference. Andy Brown, Procurement Director and Head of LGS UK, revealed the winners and congratulated them for their commitment to excellence, their spirit of collaboration and the results achieved.

Seven suppliers received awards, having obtained the highest rankings in the following two categories:

  • ISS Facilities Services Limited
  • Sodexo
  • Compass Group
  • Carlisle Support Services Group

Together, the companies formed an extended enterprise that saw them sharing PPE and helping Leonardo to keep our offices open and safe throughout the COVID19 pandemic. All four companies demonstrated continued excellent service to respond to the rapid demand/supply changes brought during the pandemic.

  • DL Complete Refurbishments is a family owned SME that has been an important local supplier to the Helicopters business for over 50 years, and still has the appetite for continuous improvement opportunities and ways to deepen the partnership. Maintaining Leonardo's healthy and productive relationships with all our suppliers is critical to our continued success. We are always looking for additional suppliers and partners who share our principles of integrity, transparency and trust, all of which contributes to ensuring the company's operational excellence.

A Strong and Diverse UK Supply Chain

Leonardo's seven major sites across the UK bring investment into their respective local economies and wider region through strong links with supply chain companies in the surrounding areas. Annually, we spend approximately £600m with over 2,100 companies – two thirds of whom are SMEs – in our UK supply chain across our Helicopters, Electronics and Cyber divisions.
